Let's start with the Biotechnology major. This major is based on interdisciplinary knowledge – biological (genetics, biochemistry, biophysics, etc.), chemical, technical (processes and equipment, instrumentation and control systems, automated complexes, simulation and process optimization, etc.). Biotechnologists are involved in scientific and research centers, laboratories, clinics and pharmaceutical companies. They are developing technologies for building new structures, eventual options for their use in the chemical, food and biological industries.
Bioengineering combines knowledge of physical and chemical biology, biophysics, genetic engineering and computer technology. Bioengineers deal with living systems and apply advanced technologies to cope with medical issues. They are involved in the development of instruments and equipment, in the development of new procedures based on interdisciplinary knowledge, in research aimed at obtaining new information to deal with new challenges.

The RAEX Rating Agency has published a subject rating of Russian universities for 2022 in majors Biotechnology and Bioengineering.
Lomonosov Moscow State University became a winner of this rating . The second place was occupied by the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. ITMO University took the third place.
