Currently, the university has 45 thousand students, undergraduates and graduate students, more than 1700 teachers work in it. Over the past five years, the number of full-time students has tripled and reached 4 thousand people, with a simultaneous reduction in the contingent of distance learning by 26%. The number of full-time teachers with a scientific degree and academic rank increased from 53.4 to 85.2%. The volume of research work performed increased 5.2 times.
In the absence of international activity of the university in the 2007-2008 academic year, the university has now concluded international agreements on cooperation and mutual exchange of students and graduate students with 11 foreign universities in France, Germany, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Poland and Italy, as well as the CIS countries (Belarus, Ukraine, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan). This made it possible to increase the proportion of up to 6% of the number of foreign students who completed the development of educational programs in higher education in the total graduation of students (taking into account CIS citizens) in 2012 to 6%.
The total area of educational and laboratory buildings in Moscow increased more than 3 times and amounted to 44,987 square meters in 2012.
Currently, the university is one of the leading higher educational institutions of the country in the field of training for the food and processing industry, as well as the agro-industrial complex. The University provides training of highly qualified specialists in technical, technological, informational, biological, economic, legal, and humanitarian profiles in 10 institutes. Over the years, over 90 thousand specialists have been trained at the university, who occupy senior positions in state, commercial, research organizations, food and processing industries.
The university implements programs of pre-university, postgraduate and additional professional education. In addition, there is the opportunity to simultaneously receive a second higher education, improve business qualifications, enter graduate school and write a dissertation for the degree of candidate or doctor of science.
Moscow State Technical University builds the interaction of employers, industrial universities and science under the auspices of the personnel and technology alliance created based on the university.
In the year of the 60th anniversary of its founding, the university successfully passed accreditation and monitoring of performance evaluations. The University and its 19 branches are recognized as highly effective structures in the system of higher professional education of the Russian Federation.
