Admission rules
- 1To collect a folder of required documents for admission: a copy of valid international passport, a copy of the document on graduation with transcript, a certificate of recognition, photograph (3 x 4 cm). All documents must be translated into Russian and notarized or consul-certified.
- 2Entrance exams. The exams can be passed remotely (online) or in the candidate's personal presence (offline).
- 3To pay tuition fees
- 4Medical Certificate indicating the absence of HIV infection and contraindications to studying in the country
Russian student visa
Student visas in Russia are required for students from most foreign countries. Russia is not a member state of the EU/EFTA, so the EU visa-free entry privilege does not apply for European students. Required Documents for Study Visas in Russia:
- 1A valid passport which will be valid for at least 18 months from the issue date of the visa and with at least two unmarked pages
- 2An official invitation letter from your chosen university
- 3Application form
- 4A certificate showing your HIV-negative status no older than 90 days
- 5A letter of consent from your parents and certified by a notary (if you're under 18)
- 6Photograph 3.5x4.5 cm

Achievements
- MEPHI is a member of the CDIO (Conceive, Design, Implement and Operate), ENEN (European Nuclear Education Network), STAR-NET (Regional Network for Education and Training in Nuclear Technology) international communities and offers a growing number of programs and courses in English.
- MEPhI has undergraduate and graduate students from Turkey, Vietnam, Jordan, Mongolia, latvia, Montenegro, Bulgaria and the United States of America.
- By 2020, MEPhI reached 15% international faculty and staff members and 25% international students.
- Six Nobel laureates contributed to educational process and research at MEPhI.
About university & International cooperation & Educational process
The University traces its history back to the middle of World War II. It started off as the Moscow Mechanics Institute of Ammunition. The original charter was to train people for the nuclear industry, which had just begun to develop. The Head of the Soviet nuclear project, academician Igor Vasilyevich Kurchatov (yes, the "father of the atomic bomb") – was one of the legendary University founders.
By the 1960's, MEPhI became the leading higher education institution in Russia, providing education and training for peaceful nuclear energy. Over the course of its history, six Nobel Prize winners have worked at MEPhI, including: N.G. Basov, a MEPhI graduate, A.D. Sakharov, N.N. Semenov, I.E. Tamm, I.M. Frank, and P.A. Cherenkov.
By the 1960's, MEPhI became the leading higher education institution in Russia, providing education and training for peaceful nuclear energy. A new wave of University development began in 2009, when MEPhI became one of the only two schools in Russia that were recognized by the Russian government as National Universities. The same year MEPhI was renamed as the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (Moscow Engineering Physics Institute).
In July 2013, MEPhI was shortlisted in the governmental Competitiveness Enhancement Program, or so called "5 into 100" competition. The objective of the program is to boost 5 of 15 chosen universities, which are already leaders in Russia, to be ranked in the top 100 universities worldwide.
Today the University holds leading positions in training specialists of the highest level, combining principles of synthesis of education and research, laid down more than 75 years ago.
