Privolzhsky Research Medical University is one of the leading centers for training medical practitioners in Russia. The Academy is named after the city Nizhny Novgorod where it is located. To its credit and dedication this Academy is ranked at number 7 of the 46 higher medical institutions in Russia and is highly acknowledged by World Health Organization and is approved by the governments of almost all the countries which send their students to this academy for gaining superior medical education and training. The medical faculty came into existence in the year 1920 and was known as the faculty of Nizhny Novgorod University. In May 1930 it became an independent Medical Institute and in June 1994 it acquired the position of being the State Medical Academy.

Privolzhsky Research Medical University (NNSMA) opened the faculty of overseas admission in the year 1992 and since then thousands of students particularly from Asia, Africa and Latin America (Sri-Lanka, India, Malaysia, Morocco, Tanzania, Kenya, Syria and others) are being trained in Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy. NNSMA has strength of more than 600 plus students enrolled each year. The university monitors constantly the quality of education, new educational programs with the focus on the demands of the modern healthcare and perspective branches of science development are introduced every year.

Nowadays, PRMU has many international partnerships worldwide; it collaborates with establishments of higher education and medical establishments of: Hungary (University of Debrecen), Czech Republic (Charles University), France (University of Nice Sophia Antipolis), Uzbekistan (Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute, Tashkent State Dentistry Institute), Germany (Essen University Hospital).

FSBEI HE PRMU MOH Russia has conventions with Chinese higher educational establishments – Jining Medical University and Baotou Medical College. In project is to develop international cooperation in the field of higher education and medicine with Guangdong Pharmaceutical University and Harbin Medical University.

Privolzhsky Research Medical University trains medical, scientific and pedagogical staff that meets modern demands of practical Public Health Care and Medical Science.
